Product profile: BenQ LW61ST lampless projector

This is a very well thought out projector for its intended markets in education and business meeting rooms. The styling, which owes a lot to the 1955 Ford Thunderbird, might suffer a bit of negative reaction, on the basis that it’s ‘a bit fancy for schools, but, if buyers look at the features on offer, the LW61ST ticks just about every item on the wish list.

Pico market to top 58 million

The latest figures from Pacific Media Associates (PMA)forecast a worldwide pico projector market of 58 million units by 2015, up from about 3 million units in 2011.

ViewSonic announced a raft of new projection and digital signage technologies in its ISE introductions. Chief among these were a 32-inch transparent display and a hybrid laser / LED projector.

Lumens wins BETT Award

Lumens DC120 wireless visualiser was selected for a BETT Award from a field of over a hundred entries in the digital device category. The DC120 is said to be the first wireless visualiser in the world and allows teachers to present lectures from anywhere in the room and even to teach outside.

Optoma to show lamp-less projector at ISE

Optoma will make the formal introduction of its hybrid projector at ISE 2012. The new model was previewed at BETT on the TI stand alongside the new BenQ laser model. The sub 3kg Optoma has an expected brightness of 2000 Lumens.

New AvediaStream Encoder

Exterity has announced what it calls a significant new feature release for its AvediaStream e2110 SD encoder. The e2110 takes analogue sources and encodes them to digital video for transmission over the IP network.
